We couldn’t have made this up if we tried.
AIKEN, SC · 2023
In 2023, Aaron “Hurricane” Angell and Kevin “KMo” Molony bought into a building in downtown Aiken, South Carolina, owned by their good buddy Kevin “Kiz” Kisner. The plan was simple enough: open a real estate closing firm and act like “real lawyers” for a change.
It didn’t take long to figure out closings weren’t for them. Not only did they suck at them, they couldn’t picture spending the rest of their lives in a conference room reading closing documents.
So they went a different direction. By early December 2024, they’d built out the space above the firm into what would become The Hobby. No master plan, no brand strategy. Just a simulator, warm light, a bar that felt right, and the feeling that something real might happen here.
The next week put it all in perspective.
KMo found himself in a duck blind with Kiz, a crew of some of the best golfers in the world, a few duck guides, and a couple of Edgefield boys who had no business being anywhere else.
On a December afternoon warmer than it had any right to be, Kiz found KMo unconscious in the blind. Pale. Drooling. No EMS, no backup plan. Just a group of men who had to figure it out fast.
They stripped off his waders and packed him with ice. Then the duck guides—the real studs of this story—carried KMo across pluff mud, marsh, and creek to get him help. No hesitation. No drama.
Studs.
Upon returning back to Aiken, SC from the hunt, KMo wrestled with almost dying in a duck blind and knew he needed to make some changes in his life.
The story is bigger than one day in a duck blind, though. Aaron and Kiz had each been through incredibly hard seasons of their own. Different stories, different losses, different scars—same lesson: life is short, your people matter, and building something with purpose beats pretending the safe thing is enough.
So the three of them decided this was what they wanted to build, and why.
That first room became The Hobby, Aiken. A real room with real people. A place to compete, talk, do a little business, hit a noon Bible study or a Thursday-night par-3 tourney, and actually show up for each other.
Rule 1: Don’t be an asshole.
Rule 2: See Rule 1.
And it worked. Friends brought friends. Rounds turned into dinners, conversations ran late, and The Hobby became the place people kept coming back to.
What started in Aiken has grown into a community built on fellowship, perspective, and showing up for your people. The Hobby, Greenville opened October 12, 2026, carrying that same spirit into a new room and a new community.
We’re just a growing group of guys and gals trying not to waste what we’ve been given. We’re grateful for everybody who’s walked through our doors or bought a hat or a shirt, and for the ability to wake up with abundant grace each morning. And we can’t wait to see where this goes.
Everybody gets another shot.
That’s what Hobby Golf is built on.
